Chitral, December 24 (ST Eyeball): Overnight heavy snowfall in Chitral has led to the closure of the lowari tunnel, a private news channel reported on Sunday.
Lowari tunnel is only road connecting Chitral to other regions of Pakistan. The snowfall led suspension of communication systems well as the road transport due to the tunnel shutdown for all kinds of traffic.
Gilgit, December 21(OurCorrespondent ):Ten people including five children and two women lost their lives in a road accident near Sher Qilla, Ghizer. The accident took place when a vehicle was going to Gahkuch from Gulapur and the car plugged into the Ghizer River near Sher Qilla.
Rescue team of FOCUS and community volunteers reach at the spot and shift the Causalities to hospital. DC Ghizar supervises all the rescue activities there.
Nine of the causalities belong to one family, only Haji Muhammad survive in the tragic accident.
five dead bodies have yet recovered from the Ghizar River. Mean while the rescue team are searching for the other five dead bodies.
According to the initial report received that the accident happened due to over load of passengers.

Islamabad, Dec 21: A fourteen member delegation of Xinjiang Television is visiting Pakistan for making a documentary on “New Journey on the Silk Road”, with special emphasis on “China-Pakistan Friendship” and “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor”.
The corridor is a historic project which would trace the prints of old “Silk Route” and will connect China with Pakistan and onwards with Central Asia and East Europe. It would not only benefit and bring prosperity to both countries but also generate economic activity, peace and stability to the people of the whole region.
Pakistan China premiers agreed in May 2014 to build an economic corridor starting from China’s Kashgar City-an old Silk Road City- to Pakistan’s South western strategic sea port Gwadar to connect South=Central Asian the region and boost regional trade , communication, transportation.

(S T Islamabad): Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Tariq Fatemi, has said development of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor is a matter of high priority for both sides and the work on the projects is in full-swing, according to news of Radio Pakistan.
Talking to the visiting team of Xinjiang Television in Islamabad on Thursday, he said the corridor envisages connectivity,development of rail and road links, fiber optic cable, energy projects and development of special economic zones.
The Special Assistant said the corridor is a historic project which would trace the prints of old “Silk Route” and will connect China with Pakistan and onwards with Central Asia and East Europe.

GILGIT: The first ever Chinese language centre established in Gilgit by the Chinese government in collaboration with the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) education department will begin enrolling students from January.
Set up inside the Gilgit High School building, the initiative of the G-B Chinese Overseas Association is meant to broaden the human resource base between the two countries.
An official of the association, Abdul Rahman said: “In our meeting with [representatives of] the G-B education department, it was decided enrolment will begin from January. Those interested in learning Chinese will be offered admission in the centre.”

LAHORE – World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan) along with GB Tourism Department, Social Economic and Environmental Development (SEED) Project for the Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP) and Serena Hotel Gilgit, joined hands to celebrate International Mountains Day in Gilgit by organizing a seminar on “Mountains: key for sustainable future” attended by people from different walks of life including academia, government departments, civil society organization and media.
The United Nations General Assembly has declared 11th December as the International Mountain Day to raise awareness on importance of mountains to life.
KABUL, Dec. 11:- China, Afghanistan, Pakistan agreed to enhance cooperation during the two-day third round of China- Afghanistan- Pakistan trilateral dialogue which concluded in Kabul on Tuesday, CCTV reported.
Chaired by Ambassador Sultan Ahmad Bahin, director general of 3rd Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Ambassador Luo Zhaohui, director general of Asian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and Muhammad Iftikhar Anjum, director general of Afghanistan Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, the three sides agreed to cooperate and to maintain the security in Afghanistan and in the region.
